Apple publishes its annual selection of the best App Store apps and games

Apple has presented a few hours ago the Best of 2018, its selection of the best content from the App Store, and lists of the apps and games most downloaded by users throughout the year.

As in other years, Apple has selected the best application and game for each platform, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac. It has also highlighted several of Apple Watch’s favorite applications, although it has not chosen any winner.

The best application of 2018 for iPhone was the iPhone version of the popular Procreate iPad app, Procreate Pocket. On the other hand, the best application for iPad was Froggipedia, an AR application that allows you to dissect a frog virtually so you do not have to dissect it in real life.

On Mac, the best application was the Pixelmator Pro image editor, and the best Apple TV application is the big screen version of the Sweat training application.

The best games this year were: Donut County (iPhone), Gorogoa (iPad), The Gardens Between (Mac) and Alto’s Odyssey (Apple TV). The latter also won the Apple Design Award at the beginning of the year.

Apple Watch apps do not have their own winner but Apple has highlighted a group of favorite apps : WaterMinder, Lifesum, 10% Happier, Carrot Weather, FunGolf GPS, Swing Tennis Tracker, Slopes, App in the Air, Overcast, and Just Press Record.

Apple also released its most downloaded lists of the year for iPhone and iPad, which are separated by applications and games (free and paid). The lists show that Facebook, YouTube, Fortnite and other entertainment apps dominate the lists of free downloads.
