MIUI 10.2.1 stable version arrives Xiaomi Mi 8 SE


In recent times, Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, has been releasing current updates for its devices.  Last week, all the flagship smartphones in the Xiaomi Mi 8 series started receiving the MIUI 10.1.2 update which brings a stable version of MIUI based on Android 9 Pie depth customization, adds 960 fps slow motion shooting, super night scene mode other new features. Today the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE officially launched MIUI10.2.1 stable version, the version number is MIUI v10.2.1.0 OEBCNFK and the update is 832MB. This update is currently rolling out of China but it wouldn’t take long for the global version to get this update. 

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE was launched alongside Xiaomi Mi 8, Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi Mi Band 3 and other Xiaomi devices on May 31st in Shenzhen, China. This smartphone is considered as the “best buy” in the Xiaomi Mi 8 series considering specs and price. According to the update log, this current update comes with the following improvements

  • Lock screen, status bar, notification bar

Status bar now supports the display of notification icons. To activate,  go to Settings – Notification Status Bar – to display icons when notified

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is the world’s first smartphone to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 quasi-flagship processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The performance of Snapdragon 710 is 20% higher than SD660. It uses a 5.88 inch Samsung  AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2244×1080. Although the screen size is 5.88 inches, the phone size is comparable to that of the traditional 5.2-inch screen. In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is equipped with an AI-assisted dual rear camera setup. It has a 12MP + 5MP configuration on the rear and a 20MP sensor for selfies. Its main sensor is a Sony IMX363, the same as the Xiaomi Mi 8 with 1.4um unit pixel area.  Mi 8 SE also has a built-in AI scene camera. It can identify 206 scenes and intelligently optimize the camera effect. This smartphone runs on Android Oreo and a 3120 mAh battery keeps its lights on.

    Up to now I haven’t received the 10.1.2 update. Got the 10.1.1 but had to update it manually as Xiaomi messed up again. Great hardware but software is still messy.
