First launched in London earlier in May, the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro were recently launched and offered for sale in China equipped with the Kirin 980 processor, supports GPU Turbo 3.0, virtual 9.1 surround sound, built-in new EROFS file system, with up to 8GB of memory and a maximum of 256GB of storage. But it appears a more juicy variant of the Honor 20 Pro will also be selling in the Chinese market as confirmed by TENAA.
TENAA has just approved two Huawei devices with model numbers YAL-AL00 and YAL-AL10 and are both linked to the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. While the Honor20 and Honor 20 Pro launched earlier max out at 6GB+ 128GB storage, and 8GB of RAM, TENAA listing reveals the base Honor20 will get a new 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant, as compared to its initial 6GB+128GB storage, while the premium Honor 20 Pro will be getting a more capable variant capping out 12GB of RAM.
These new variants are said to be exclusive to the Chinese market, and aside from the RAM differences, both devices share the same specs as with the other variants including display size, battery, etc. Both phones will have EMUI 9.1, based on Android Pie, latest Kirin 980 chipset and a plethora of cameras.
Both devices are quite strong in terms of photography featuring a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, and on the back, the Honor20 Pro features a quad-camera module, including a 48MP main camera of Sony IMX586, an 8MP 3x optical telephoto lens, a 16MP super wide-angle lens, and a dedicated 2MP macro camera, while the standard Honor20 gets a similar quad-camera setup, but now in a 48-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture), a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera arrangement.
In terms of price, the Honor 20 8GB+128GB version is priced at 2,699 yuan ($391), and the 8GB+256GB version is priced at 2,999 yuan ($434). The Honor 20Pro 8GB+128GB version is priced at 3,199 yuan ($463), and the 8GB+256GB version is priced at 3,499 yuan ($507). The new variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage and 12GB RAM are expected to cost a little more.
