Huawei has patented the camera under the display in Germany

Huawei

Huawei is obviously working on a device where the front camera should disappear just below the display surface. As the company’s published design patents now suggest.

The German Patent and Trademark Office has recently added a number of Huawei design patents from China that describe a user interface for a smartphone. The designs are now patented in Germany. It shows how a circular area should be reserved for the camera. Which is undoubtedly integrated directly under the display surface. But at the same time without losing the function of that surface.

Gizchina News of the week

Huawei wants to continue to actively use the display in the area of the front camera

Unlike the prototype of a smartphone with front camera under the display surface recently shown by Vivo, according to Huawei’s patent, the camera should not be centered, but it should be like the Huawei Nova 4 and some other models of the Chinese manufacturer in the left top corner of the screen. Another difference is probably that the area under which the camera sits is not close directly to the edge of the screen.

Instead, The camera integrates inconspicuously in the user interface in the notification bar. And its spot is replaced by other icons during active use of the phone outside the camera app. In camera mode, the current mode is displayed next to it. Huawei does not want to leave the area completely unused.

The sketches and the designs from the recent design patent also suggest that the manufacturer could create an area at the top of the screen behind which the other sensors should be. Thus, the area at the level of the front camera is clearly separate from the rest of the UI.
