Today was the last day of the Qualcomm 5G Summit held in Barcelona. OPPO’s chief 5G scientist Tang Hai was invited to attend and participate in the 5G Forum as well. In the forum, Tang Hai revealed OPPO’s recent 5G development achievements. He said that 5G phones are in the large-scale development phase. Plus, they will launch the world’s first smartphone equipped with Qualcomm’s dual-mode 5G chip before the end of the year. Thus, it will support SA and NSA networking.
Tang Hai also said, ‘Due to the efforts of the whole industry, 5G is in the stage of high-speed popularization. And consumers in some countries and regions have already tasted OPPO 5G phones in advance. We hope to better meet the different countries in the world through a new generation of 5G dual-mode products.‘
As early as February of this year, Qualcomm announced its first 5G integrated mobile platform. It is part of the Snapdragon 7 series, and is built in 7nm technology and can support all major regions and frequency bands for a wider range of consumers. According to reports, a total of 12 smartphone manufacturers and brands plan to adopt this platform on their future 5G mobile terminals. Of course, OPPO is among them. At the same time, OPPO is also among the first partners for the Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
At the end of September this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a statement. It stressed that China’s 5G market will be heavily invested in SA independent networking in 2020. This means that the hybrid network of NSA+SA will appear in China’s 5G market soon. OPPO’s first phone with the global Qualcomm dual-mode chip will bring consumers a more complete and mature 5G mobile experience.
As a pioneer in the 5G era, OPPO has a deep accumulation in 5G research and development, standards, and software. In May of this year, OPPO and Swiss Telecom officially released the OPPO Reno 5G version. It was the first 5G commercial smartphone launched in Europe. At the same time, OPPO also cooperated with China’s three major operators to pass the 5G Spark Program, bringing 5G first-class experience to domestic consumers.
