Today, Meizu Technology officially announced that it will offload the last production line of the Meizu 16s Pro. This smartphone was released in August 2019 and its successor, Meizu 17 will arrive on April 22. According to Meizu, the Meizu 16s Pro is a classic in the 4G era that became a unique presence in the market with excellent design and product power. It believes that Meizu 17 will have better performance and achieve better results. The Meizu 16s Pro comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. It also uses UFS 3.0 flash memory, 48MP main camera and a 3600 mAh battery.

According to recent information, Meizu 17 will come with a Snapdragon 865 5G processor, LPDDR 5 memory, UFS 3.0 flash memory. Furthermore, the display is a 6.5-inch 90Hz AMOLED punch-hole screen with an optical on-screen fingerprint sensor. This smartphone comes with a quad-rear camera and a 4500 mAh large battery capacity. Both Meizu 17 / Pro charging heads have passed 3C certification. The certification shows that the former supports 30W fast charging, and the latter 40W. It also comes with a horizontal linear motor, dual stereo speakers and other configurations.

Some days ago, Meizu held the Meizu 17 mSmart 5G fast and stable technology sharing meeting yesterday. The company officially released the Meizu mSmart 5G technical solution. The theme of this meeting is “born to solve the pain points of 5G”. According to Meizu, this technology solves one of the impacts of 5G on equipment which is battery life issues. Meizu revealed that Meizu 17 comes with a large 4500 mAh battery. Over an 8-hour 5G battery life test, the power saving effect is as high as 64% when mSmart 5G is active. The company showed that Meizu 17’s battery lasts for is 11.77 hours (with active 5G network). 

In terms of price, there are speculations that the 8GB + 128GB version costs 3999 yuan ($567) (LPDDR4X), the 8GB + 256GB version costs 4299 yuan ($609), while the 12GB + 256GB version costs 4699 yuan ($666). At present, there is no confirmation on the price leak. Nevertheless, looking at the current pricing of Snapdragon 865 flagships, these devices are usually above 3500 yuan. Thus, the starting price of this smartphone should be between 3500 ($496) – 4000 yuan ($567).
