OPPO is one of the most innovative companies in the smartphone and tech segment. The company was one of the first companies to introduce the pop-up camera concept through the Vivo Apex and also is one of the leading firms in fast-charging technology. Today, the company held the 2020 edition of Inno Day even where it launched a number of innovative products. Interestingly enough, the company unveiled today the world’s first smartphone with a rollable display. Apart from the new innovative handset, the company also unveiled the OPPO AR Glasses 2021 with an improved design and a set of interesting features.
Back in the last year, the company introduced the first iteration of its AR glasses. However, they didn’t look like standard glasses for normal use. It was mostly a concept product than something made for the end consumer. Now, Oppo is delivering a product that looks like ordinary glasses with a modern design and slim profile. The new model is 75% lighter than last year’s model and is possible to connect to a smartphone easily thanks to a USB-C to USB-C port. The company employed Birthbath optical solution to deliver an increased contrast that is 53% superior to its predecessor. The increase in brightness uniformity is 98% and pixels per degree were increased by 40% in comparison to the 2019 version.
OLED display, Advanced Camera solutions
The OPPO AR Glasses 2021 come with a 0.71-inch OLED display that has its light refracted by a spectroscope to the eye. Moreover, it packs a customized large-amplitude speaker onboard with a unique semi-open cavity acoustic design. The Audio design comes to ensure that the AR glasses are capable of delivering a rich sound experience and to match the illusion of watching a 90-inc screen from 3m away.
You can pair the new AR glasses with your smartphone and use the device as a touchpad. Users can track their hands and fingers through the glasses binocular fisheye cameras. These cameras recognize 21 markers on a single hand and four on one finger. These cameras come alongside a ToF module that enables centimeter-level accuracy within 1-degree.
According to OPPO, there are multiple-use scenarios for the new AR glass. You can use it for AR streaming of online and local HD videos. Moreover, it can be used for AR gaming with improvements for Multiplayer and Tower Defence Games. You can also use it to virtually place furniture or objects in an ambient. The company wants to further expand the usability of the AR Glasses by opening the system to developers. The company will provide a client-side SDK and development toolchain under the OPPO AR Developer program. This program starts next year and Oppo will use the community’s expertise to further improve its product and solutions.
