Xiaomi Mi 11 gets A+ from Display Mate, it has a perfect color accuracy

Mi 11

Earlier this week, Xiaomi introduced its very first 2021 flagship dubbed Xiaomi Mi 11. The device is the first smartphone to be announced with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in tow. It also comes with a powerful camera setup in the back and a gorgeous curved display with a punch-hole design. Apparently, the first flagship of 2021 comes with a display that will set a high standard for the ones coming after it. DisplayMate has just concluded its tests of the Xiaomi Mi 11 display and found it to be an excellent panel. It scored an A+ in the review, which’s the highest in the DM ranking system.

The handset also earned a Very Good or higher rating in almost every test performed. According to DisplayMate, the Mi 11’s panel has close to perfect calibration when running in sRGB or DCI-P3 models. It also has a perfect 100% coverage of those color gamuts in the respective modes. Auto Color tends to boost saturation and contrast to make images pop. The Saturated mode goes above and beyond reaching 139% sRGB and 111% DCI-P3 coverage. That’s really impressive.

The review also states that the Mi 11 panel is quite bright. In fact, the High Brightness mode can reach up to 996 nits at 100% Average Pixel Level. A one hundred percent means that the whole screen is showing white. This goes up to 1,221 nits at 50% APL (half screen is white). The sRGB and DCI-P3 modes top out at 505 nits. The display has excellent legibility even in bright ambient light. Thanks to the low reflectivity provided by the display.

Colors are also accurate in a perfect way. When you view the display at an angle – at 30-degrees, the white point shifted a negligible 0.5 JNCD, while the Red color channel deviated to 3.8 JNCD. It earned only a Good rating at this point, which is the only one below Very Good. At that angle, the display brightness decreased by only 29%. According to DM, a typical LCD suffers a greater than 50% loss.

The Xiaomi  Mi 11 with its score, matched 13 display performance records in the DisplayMate database.
