Realme V15 5G aka Realme Koi is now official. The smartphone has been in the news for quite some time now. Its specification got leaked already. But now since it is released in China, we can have a closer look. The Realme V15 5G is a mid-range device, as speculated earlier. We are having a couple of highlights including a Super AMOLED display as well as a power 5G SoC.
Pricing and configuration: a little confusing
First, let’s talk about the pricing of the Realme V15. It comes in two variants comprising of 6/128GB and 8/128GB configurations. It is good to see that the company has used 128GB as a minimum on this phone. The variants are priced at ¥1499 (~$232) and ¥1999 (~$309) respectively. The 6GB variant is available at a discounted price of ¥1399 (~$216). Now I am a bit confused, why is the 8GB variant priced a lot more than usual? There is a difference of $77 between the two models. It will be justified if the 8GB model has something else to offer. Otherwise, it is just foolish.
Official Specifications of Realme V15
Gizchina News of the week
You will not be surprised by reading the specifications of Realme V15. Don’t get me wrong, the device is a good value for money. But it is really similar to what we have seen in the leaks. There is a 6.4-inch SuperAMOLED display. It has a refresh rate of 60Hz. Now as you may know devices like POCO X3 come with a 120Hz refresh rate display. Although they used IPS panels. It is good to see an S-AMOLED display from a Chinese brand in the mid-range market.
There is a triple rear camera setup comprising of 64-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel macro sensors. Well, the 2-megapixel macro is of no use, especially in cheap smartphones. But still, companies tend to use it to make branding of “triple rear camera setup.” Let me know what do you think of macro sensors especially on budget-oriented smartphones.
MediaTek Dimensity 800U
On the front, you will be getting a punch hole notch housing a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies. No other than MediaTek DImensity 800U is powering the smartphone. It is a 5G chipset as well as provides good performance. Unfortunately, the battery isn’t big enough. Well, it is a Super AMOLED panel but still, 5G uses a lot of battery. The 4310mAh capacity is not the standard in the mid-range market. Although, it can be charged really fast at 50W.
Other notable features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, a weight of just 176g and it is 8.1mm thick. The smartphone is available for pre-order in China while it will be hitting the offline market from 15th January. One of the cool things about the phone is its color options. There are 3 color options. One is a gradient finish having yellow and a purplish color called “Koi”. The other one is having a sky blue and white gradient called Mirror Lake. While there is also a silver color option called Crescent Silver.
