After the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 back in 2018, Xiaomi did not put much effort into its tablet business. However, with the increase in demand for large display devices due to the pandemic, the Chinese manufacturer will now revive its tablet business. It is already official that Xiaomi will finally continue its tablet business with the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5. According to reports, this new tablet series from Xiaomi will use an unprecedented flagship configuration. However, there is nothing official from the company and all we have are speculations.
Nevertheless, the rumors keep rolling in and many of these reports are quite interesting. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is currently in the works and everyone is paying attention to this device. According to previous reports, the new Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 series will have three models. This series will have the Xiaomi Mi Tab 5, Mi Pad 5 Pro, and Mi Pad 5 Pro+. The initial speculations claim that the Mi Pad 5 Pro+ will come with the Snapdragon 888 flagship processor.
However, the latest report out of China claims that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 series will only use one processor. According to the report, all the models in this series will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. We know that the Snapdragon 870 is the most popular sub-flagship chip at the moment. What makes this chip interesting is that its performance is not much different from that of the Snapdragon 888 flagship chip. Thus, it will most likely be a choice chip for flagship tablets.
It appears that what will now differentiate this series will be the display. According to previous reports, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 series will have both LCD and OLED models. Obviously, the high-end model will use the OLED display while the regular version will come with the LCD display. The resolution of the display will be 2560 x 1600 and it will support 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the touch sampling rate will hit 240Hz and it will also support 4096-level touch as well as an in-Cell active pen technology. This display promises to has a smooth effect for large screen devices. Under the hood, the Mi Pad 5 series will come with a built-in 4260 mAh dual-cell battery (equivalent to 8720 mAh).
