Yesterday, Xiaomi officially unveiled the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4. This device is the first regular MIX smartphone in three years. It is also the first Xiaomi smartphone to use an under-screen camera technology. This device comes with an all-black packaging box with the Mi logo, “MIX” and “Xiaomi” written in gold. Although this box looks really flat, it comes with a 120W fast charger.
We can see that the display is completely “holeless” and bezeless. However, the bottom bezel is significantly thicker than the other three sides. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 comes with a CUP full screen and it also uses a ceramic build material just like the MIX 2. This device supports 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.
This display uses a new “micro-drill arrangement” which maintains the same number of pixels and RGB ratio. It also reduces the sub-pixel area, as well as the light occlusion to achieve 100% full pixel display. It perfectly solves the problems of the CUP area mosaic screen, pixel density, and display accuracy in the CUP area. The resolution can reach 400PPI, and the colour display is rich and delicate, almost flawless.

When taking selfies, the CUP area of ââMi MIX 4 puts the TFT circuit side by side to remove the light obstruction; and then changes the wire material used to connect the pixels to ITO transparent wires to further improve the transparency and allow enough light to pass through the screen and reach the camera sensor. The edges of this device are round and the curved screen ensures that this device has a fairly high screen-to-body ratio.

In addition, in order to control the line shooting effect as much as possible and improve the image quality of the camera, Mi MIX 4 modified the transparent lead path and sub-pixel shape. The camera introduces multi-frame shooting pairs and multi-step enhancement algorithms based on deep learning to optimize colours and enhance details. We can see that the audio is tuned by Harman/Kardon and this device has its USB Type-C port and microphone on the bottom. The speakers are at the top and bottom of this device.
As we all know, the Mi MIX series is the pioneer of the ceramic body. It comes with a unique warm feel and high cost and it is rarely used in the mobile phone industry. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 explores the ceramic option again. This design material makes the device 30% lighter which retaining its unique touch.
This smartphone comes with just two buttons on the side. While one (smaller button) is the power button, the other (larger button) is the volume rocker. The SIM card tray is also located at the bottom of this device and it hosts both SIMs on opposite sides of the SIM tray.
In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is the first smartphone to launch the Snapdragon 888+ processor. This X1 super core frequency of this chip increases to 3.0GHz, and the AI ââperformance also increases by 23%.
Furthermore, it comes with a new balance mode, limits energy consumption, and controls heat generation. This device further comes with the UWB-finger connection technology which is more convenient, accurate, and safe.
