Google Pixel 5a 5G could hit the store shelves later this month if previously surfaced rumors proved to be true. Despite the lack of an official confirmation, the word on the street is that the search engine giant is gearing up to launch a new mid-range phone. Although nothing is set in stone yet, the device has been floating around the rumor mill for quite some time now.
The 5G-ready Pixel 5a phone has been subject to multiple leaks that revealed some key specs and other details. Moreover, there’s no dearth of reports that claim that the phone’s launch is imminent. As mentioned earlier, Google is still mum on the speculations surrounding its upcoming handset. However, an insider had confirmed to AndroidPolice that the phone could arrive on August 17.
Google Pixel 5a Images Leak Before Launch
Now, the source that revealed the Pixel 5a smartphone’s release date, has shared images of the components of the handset. The source claims that these components are being shipped to the retail stores that will sell the Pixel 5a before the August 17 launch date. If the leaked images are anything to go by, the Pixel 5a 5G will bear a striking resemblance to the Pixel 4a 5G as far as design is concerned. The rear panel seems to have a rubber-like texture, rather than a plastic feel that was seen on the earlier model.

Furthermore, there’s a cutout to accommodate the 3.5mm audio jack on the top edge of the frame. The right edge houses a volume rocker and a ribbed power key. Aside from that, the rear shell features a fingerprint scanner. It also has a square-shaped camera setup that features two cameras along with an LED flash. One of the aforesaid images reveals that the battery that will keep the entire system powered up will have a 4,680mAh capacity.
Specifications, Price & Availability (Expected)
The Pixel 5a 5G will sport a 6.4-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. Previously leaked details suggested that the phone will pack a Snapdragon 765G chipset. However, a report from Indian blog Trak claimed that a Snapdragon 750G SoC will be powering up the handset. Aside from that, it will ship with 6GB of RAM and offer 128GB of internal storage.
The device houses a 12.2MP dual-camera system that supports OIS. In addition to that, it has a 16MP ultrawide lens. The phone could come with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The Pixel 5a could retail for $450. It will go up for sale in the Mostly Black color option. Regrettably, Google could launch the phone in only two markets including the US and Japan. More details about the handset will surface on the web ahead of its official unveiling.
