Amazon Launches 2021 Kindle Paperwhite Lineup Ahead of Fall Event

Ahead of Amazon’s fall hardware event, set to take place on September 28, the popular e-commerce giant has announced three new models of its popular e-reader, the Kindle.

This information comes to us via the Verge, which reports that Amazon has launched the Kindle Paperwhite 2021, complete with multiple new features and a larger screen.

What Do the New Kindle Paperwhite Models Offer?

Kindle Paperwhite

The vanilla Amazon Paperwhite is getting a bumped up display, going from 6-inches to 6.8-inches due to a reduction in the bezels. There is a ppi of 300 for better reading. The battery life is now up from six to a whopping ten weeks, with a new processor at the core of the new Paperwhite.

USB-C based quick charging is also present, with users also getting support to adjust the colour temperature of the display to reduce blue light during night reading. Pricing is set at $139 for the variant with ads and $159 for the variant without ads.

Alongside this variant, there is a new Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition with support for wireless charging, increased storage (32GB in comparison to the vanilla variant’s 8GB) and automatic brightness adjusting. It will retail for $189 for the non-ad variant.

The final edition is the Kids Edition of the new Paperwhite. It comes with hardware similar to the base variant, but Amazon bundles in a rugged case with one year of Amazon Kids Plus for free. It will retail for $159 without ads. Shipping will start around late October.

Amazon

According to an invite sent to The Verge, Amazon’s fall event is set to take place next week, on September 28 at 12 PM ET. In 2020, the company took to the stage to launch its new Echo, Echo Dot and the Eero 6 and 6 Pro Wi-Fi routers. The Echo Show and multiple Ring products, some of which include the Ring Car Alarm, Ring Car Cam were also launched. To top it all of, the company also launched a new Fire Stick Lite and Fire TV Stick 4K.

Last year, the headlining product was the Amazon Luna game streaming service, which was launched to take on the likes of Microsoft Cloud and Google Stadia.
