Oppo Watch Free launched in China

The hotly-anticipated Oppo Watch Free smartwatch has gone official in China, carrying an affordable price tag. The popular Chinese consumer electronics company has taken the wraps off its much-awaited smartwatch dubbed, Watch Free. The wearable was launched alongside the equally-anticipated Oppo K9 Pro 5G smartphone in the country. The feature-laden smartwatch sports a crystal clear screen, advantageous features, and a highly appealing outward appearance.

The wearable features a 1.64-inch AMOLED, 2.5D curved display. Furthermore, it is capable of monitoring the wearer’s blood oxygen, and heart rate. It provides accurate sleep reports and even records the wearer’s snoring when they sleep. On top of that, it is likely to support NFC-based payments. It is worth mentioning here that there are only a few smartwatches in India that support payments. However, this will completely rely on the availability of NFC-based payment options in places like supermarkets in the country.

Oppo Watch Free Specifications & Features

For connectivity, the Watch Free supports Bluetooth 5.0. Aside from sleep, blood oxygen, and heart rate monitoring, Oppo claims that the wearable will provide a battery life of 14 days. The watch draws its juices from a 230mAh battery that offers fast charging support, according to a MySmartPrice report. With just five minutes of charging, the battery of the Oppo Watch Free is capable of lasting for an entire day.

Furthermore, it boasts an ambient light sensor, a six-axis motion sensor, and more than a whopping 100 sports modes. Six of these sports modes support automatic tracking. This includes rowing machines, elliptical machines, outdoor cycling, walking, swimming, and running. It will be compatible with devices running on iOS 10.0, and Android 6.0 and above.

As if that weren’t enough, the Watch Free carries a 5ATM rating. In other words, it can withstand pressure up to a depth of 30 meters. It features a 19mm strap and weighs 32.6 grams with the strap. It weighs 20.9 grams without the strap. On the downside, the Watch Free does pack a GPS chip inside.

Price & Availability

The Oppo Watch Free will set you back CNY 549 in China. This converts roughly to about INR 6,200 in India. The NFC version retails for CNY 599 (roughly INR 6,800). The smartwatch is set to go on sale starting from September 30 this year. You can pre-book it on JD.com. Furthermore, you can choose between Silent Night Black and Quick Sand Gold color options. Oppo has remained mum on the wearable’s availability in other regions, including India.
