iQOO U5 emerges on 3C certification with 18W charging

iQOO U5

iQOO is preparing another smartphone for the Chinese market. After the buzz caused by the iQOO 8 series, the company is preparing a new smartphone for the U-series. The new handset should carry the iQOO U5 moniker and will come at an affordable price tag. The device has emerged on 3C certification carrying details that suggest it’s a budget smartphone. We can say that its launch is imminent as it is already passing through important Chinese certifications.

The iQOO U5 has visited the 3C listing in China with an 18 W charging speed. This is pretty much a standard charging rate for low-end and mid-range smartphones. Nowadays, we can associate it with low-end devices more than with mid-range smartphones, at least when it comes to iQOO. The brand pushes its mid-range and flagship devices to astonishing fast-charging rates, so 18 W does not sound impressive. We believe that this charging rate will be fueling a 5,000 mAh battery as this has become a standard for budget devices. The device was also listed with a V2165A model number.

iQOO U5 rumored specs

Unfortunately, the 3C certification alone can’t tell much about the handset. However, previous rumors have been floating in the past few days. The smartphone will sport a MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of Internal Storage. The device has an IPS LCD screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate. We assume that the resolution will be Full HD+ with 2400 x 1080 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. At this point, it’s hard to say if the device will sport a notch or a punch-hole cutout. However, the rumors say that it will pack a triple-camera setup. We expect a camera with 48 MP or 50 MP and two snappers for macro and depth sensing.

For now, iQOO is focusing in the Chinese market. So we need to wait a few days to see if the device will pop out on TENAA certification with images and more details about the specifications. It should run iQOO UI with Android 11 OS in tow. For now, the brand will likely keep it exclusive to the Chinese market, but we can’t discard a wider release afterward.

The company may be aiming at the recently released Redmi Note 11 series. It could price it slightly below Xiaomi’s offering to attract customers that want a good 5G SoC but can’t pay much.
