Google Pixel 6 And Pixel 6 Pro Getting The Biggest Update Since Their Launch

Pixel 6

The Verge reported that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones received the most important software update since Google released these two phones in October.

Google Pixel 6 Series Update

The most important change in this update is the adjustment of the fingerprint sensor and the improvement of the camera. In terms of bug fixes, Google has fixed screen flickering issues, bugs that may prevent screen switching refresh rates, audio and Bluetooth issues, etc. In addition, Google said that the battery performance and cooling performance of the entire Pixel product line have been improved “under certain conditions.”

The source also pointed out a few camera improvements that are worth our attention. Among them, we can mention:

Gizchina News of the week

  • General image quality improvements in camera preview/capture
  • General improvements for camera stability and performance
  • Improvements for auto-focus response in certain capture modes
  • General improvements for color consistency in viewfinder preview
  • Fix for issue causing blank viewfinder preview in certain conditions

Unfortunately, there is no word about reducing the amount of noise in videos captured on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. So there is every reason to think Google hasn’t fixed it for the moment.

Google recently launched the Pixel Stand 2 wireless charger. But the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro need to install this update to get the full 23W wireless charging speed.

To download and install the update on your Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, you have to go to settings, scroll down to “system” and tap on that. Then, select the mentioned system update.

Not The First

By the way, back in November, Google launched a mysterious update for these two. But seems it was exclusive in the US. It was just 14.6MB in size. Though there has been no official introduction, some users said that the fingerprint scanner had become much quicker and reliable. Another user claimed that the camera now rotates UI elements with the phone’s orientation. Simply put, this update is a hotfix update that addresses some issues in the software.

Pixel 6 / Pro Key Features

As for the phones, Google officially launched the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones a couple of months ago. They boast of Google’s self-developed Tensor chip. Plus, they come with the LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 native storage. Apart from this, the Pixel 6 uses a 6.4-inch OLED punch-hole screen with a resolution of 2400×1080 and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 6 Pro uses a 6.7-inch 3120×1440 OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate (LTPO).
