The Samsung Galaxy S22 series smartphones will pack the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC under the hood in India. On February 9, the South Korean tech company launched the Galaxy S22 series globally. The lineup comprises three new flagship phones including the Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+, and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and Exynos 2200 SoC variants of these handsets went official at the event.

Samsung will be offering either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC or the Exynos 2200 SoC variant depending on the region of launch. The company has a reputation for launching Exynos chip-powered flagship phones in India. However, Samsung has confirmed that it will be breaking with this tradition, by launching the Galaxy S22 series India variant with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. Aside from that, the company confirmed this vital piece of information via a tweet as well.

Both mobile platforms adopt a 4nm process. However, it is no secret that the Snapdragon 8 series processors are comparatively more powerful and efficient than the Exynos. In a bid to narrow this gap, Samsung unveiled the Exynos 2100 SoC last year. Still, the 2021 Exynos flagship chip could not match the efficiency or power of the Snapdragon 888. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if the Galaxy S22 series phones heat up once they go official in India. In the meantime, let’s check out the Samsung Galaxy S22 series specifications and other details.
