ColorOS monthly active users exceeds 500 million

ColorOS 12

Earlier today, ColorOS took to its official Weibo handle to announce that as of January 31, 2022, ColorOS’s global monthly active users exceeded 500 million. Considering ColorOS 500 million users relative to the 4 billion smartphone users globally, one in eight people around the world uses ColorOS. This Android skin is a customized operating system based on Android launched by Oppo. It is worth mentioning that in November last year, Oppo officially released the brand-new ColorOS 12. According to the company, users can use this system for 36 months without getting stuck. The ColorOS 12 also comes with Smooth Engine 2.0 and Quantum Animation Engine 3.0.

Another highlight in terms of functions is the cross-screen interconnection. After the mobile phone with ColorOS 12 establishes a connection with the computer, the computer can control the mobile phone. In addition to the high-speed mutual transmission of up to 45M/S, you can also edit the mobile phone data directly on the computer.

In terms of UI design, ColorOS 12 uses a new borderless design ID, including acrylic icons and noise reduction design. At the same time, a newly designed quick-view card is also introduced. This feature can display key information of related applications in real-time in the card window.

In terms of security and privacy, ColorOS 12 supports notification anti-peeping, industry-authoritative privacy protection, sensitive permission call reminder, and refined permission management.

As of January 31, more than a dozen models have been upgraded to the official version of ColorOS 12, and more models will be pushed in February.

OxygenOS 13 official announcement: to merge with ColorOS

In a recent announcement, OnePlus reveals its next-generation system, OxygenOS 13. Last September, OnePlus announced the merger of OxygenOS and Oppo’s ColorOS. The new unified operating system will combine two operating systems: the fast and burden-free experience of OxygenOS and the stability and rich features of ColorOS. However, the company did not disclose the name of the new operating system.

The officially announced OxygenOS 13 name does not seem to be a new name. Furthermore, it is not consistent with the previous roadmap from the company. The latest OxygenOS 12 hit the road in December last year and it is on top of Android 12. This system also brings several features including better icons, three-level adjustable dark mode, and more.
