Oppo Find X5 Pro gets a “smart” ice-skin cooling case

Oppo Find X5 Pro

Oppo has unveiled its Oppo Find X5 series in the last month. While the Oppo Find X5 stands as an entry point, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is the true 2022 flagship with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This chipset boasts 1 x ARM Cortex-X2 core, 3 x ARM Cortex-A710 cores, and 4 x ARM Cortex-A510 cores. The graphics are ensured by the excellent Adreno 730G GPU. This chipset can easily withstand anything, and Oppo has even introduced an advanced cooling solution. As a result, the performance throttling won’t affect the usage. Now, the company wants to give a step further with a special Ice-Skin cooling case. The point here is that this fancy case can keep the temperature further 2-3 degrees C lower.

An innovative case that can reduce the temperature

The Oppo Find X5’s special case has a special hydrogel layer, developed by Wuhan University. The Regular hydrogels draw moisture from the air and then release it through evaporation. However, in order to provide long-term cooling and not just a one-time solution. The researcher’s developed a Glacier Mat – it’s modified hydrogel that re-absorbs moisture from the air over and over again at lower temperatures of the atmosphere. It creates a circular cooling cycle.

Gizchina News of the week

The Ice-Skin case does not add too much heft or thickness to the Oppo Find X5 Pro bulkier compared to a regular protective case. Interestingly, Oppo is sending some of these Ice-Skin cooling cases to users in China who pre-ordered the smartphone. Unfortunately, there is still no word on the global Oppo Find X5 series release. However, it seems reasonable to expect these devices in April or early in May. Now it remains to be seen if this case will also leave China.

We have to say that it’s a nice idea to provide a case that can reduce the temperature without being bulky. We already saw a couple of cases with built-in batteries or even built-in coolers. It’s interesting to see that Oppo is still trying concepts and playing with innovative ideas.

Oppo Find X5 Pro specifications

The Oppo Find X5 Pro packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Internal Storage. In China, there is a Dimensity 9000 variant, but it lacks some serious features. Honestly, we don’t think this variant will hit global markets. After all, it would be a very confusing decision. Moving on, the Oppo Find X5 Pro packs a triple-camera setup with a 50 MP main camera, 13 MP telephoto, and 50 MP ultrawide snapper. This camera setup has Hasselblad Color Calibration and a MariSilicon X NPU to handle AI tasks and improve quality. For selfies and video calls, the phone will have a 32 MP snapper.

The flagship has stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6e, and Bluetooth 5.2. Furthermore, it draws powers from a massive 5,000 mAh battery with 80 W fast-charging and 50 W wireless fast charging.
