iOS 16 won’t be revolutionary, Apple bets on watchOS 9

ios 16

iOS 16 is once again being talked about, but could prove to be rather disappointing. This is predicted by journalist Mark Gurman, who explains in his latest newsletter that the update will be less substantial than the previous one. Conversely, watchOS 9 should bring many new features to the Apple Watch.

If a few leaks have revealed the outlines of iOS 16, it is clear that the next update seems relatively meager. Admittedly, the emergency calls by satellite and the detection of road accidents including interesting features, but we are not yet at the level of its predecessors. According to Mark Gurman, journalist for Bloomberg there is a simple reason for this: Apple is not going to revolutionize its operating system with iOS 16.

Thus, he writes in his latest Power On newsletter that he does not “expect Apple to offer a complete overhaul of its software”. Nevertheless, some changes will still point the tip of their nose. Mark Gurman predicts, among other things, “new ways to interact and some new applications”. In particular, the journalist could be referring to a new widget system, which was leaked a few weeks ago.

Since iOS 14, users have been eagerly awaiting interactive widgets, unlike what Apple currently offers. Called “Infoshack”, this new system which would allow you to customize your widgets has already leaked and could therefore make its arrival in iOS 16. Here is what Mark Gurman could describe as “significant change” that iOS 16 would bring.

Don’t wait much from iOS 16

Meanwhile, watchOS 9 is already shaping up to be more considerable. Mark Gurman called the update “significant”, with new features such as temperature taking. Unfortunately, the journalist does not extend more on the update, except on the blood pressure monitor which will not be available before 2024. To find out more, we will therefore have to wait until June 6, the date launch of WWDC 2022.
