Oppo Reno 8

After multiple leaks and rumors, Oppo has officially disclosed the Oppo Reno 8 series. As rumors have said, we have three smartphones, the three usual variants, coming at the same time. Namely, the company introduced the Oppo Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro, and Reno 8 Pro+. Each device comes with its particularities and prices. One interesting thing to note is that the company has really managed to pioneer the recently released Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Shortly after this chipset’s release, the Oppo Reno 8 series becomes the first to introduce smartphones with this chip. Without further ado, let’s see what each device brings to the table.

Oppo Reno 8 specifications

The Oppo Reno 8 flaunts a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The panel has a peak brightness of 800 nits and has a cover of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The handset comes paired with 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Under the hood, the phone comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC. In terms of optics, the Reno 8 flaunts a triple-camera setup. Unfortunately, there is no ultrawide shooter in this package. There is a 50 MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 2 MP monochrome snapper, and a 2 MP macro shooter. There is also a 32 MP Sony IMX709 shooter on the front for selfies. The phone draws its powers from a 4,500 mAh battery and offers support for 80W fast charging.

The device also sports the MariSilicon X NPU which boasts AI capabilities. Unfortunately, this camera setup does not offer much diversity. Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB Type-C port, 7.67 mm thickness, and 179 grams of weight.

Reno 8 Pro

The Reno 8 Pro is the first smartphone to pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. It is placed in the mid of the lineup, and its specs will certainly attract the customers. The phone packs a 6.62-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with 2,400 x 1,080 pixels of resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone has up to 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM And up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

In terms of optics, the phone brings a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP macro shooter. The main camera is the trending Sony IMX766 sensor. There is also a 32 MP camera at the front for selfies. The Oppo Reno 8 Pro+ draws its powers from a 4,500 mAh battery with 80W Super Flash charging. Other features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and USB Type-C port. There is also the MariSilicon X NPU.

Reno 8 Pro+

The Reno 8 Pro+ seems to be very similar to the Realme GT Neo 3 and OnePlus 10R / OnePlus Ace. Perhaps, we have another rebranding here, for the third time in a row… That said, the phone comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. Worth noting, however, that the camera setup has a different design. There is a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP macro shooter.
