Motorola Edge 30 Ultra with 200MP camera launches on September 8

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra
After several months of waiting, Motorola presented the Motorola X30 Pro as the long-rumored Motorola Frontier. The device hit the Chinese market as the world’s first 200 MP camera smartphone. We all knew that it would be just a matter of time until the device reaches the global markets. Well, it’s happening sooner than expected. Motorola has officially announced a global press conference for September 8. During the conference, the company will present three new smartphones. We expect the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, and a third smartphone rumored to come as Moto Edge 30 Neo.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra – the big star of the show

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra will certainly steal the spotlight at the event. It’s Motorola’s super flagship smartphone for the second half of 2022. Under the hood, the handset packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. However, the biggest highlight is the 200 MP camera. After all, there are already many smartphones with the SD8+ Gen 1, but when it comes to the camera department, the Edge 30 Ultra remains the only one with a 200 MP camera. Motorola needs to hurry if it intends to use the 200 MP camera for marketing purposes. After all, Xiaomi is coming soon with the Xiaomi 12T Pro, set to pack the same 200 MP camera. To those unaware, Motorola uses the Samsung HP1 snapper with 200 MP resolution. It uses a 1/1.22-inch ultra-large sensor and supports 8K ultra-clear video recording.

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra also brings a 50 MP ultrawide shooter that doubles as a macro shooter. There is also a 12 MP 2x telephoto snapper, and a 60 MP front-facing snapper. These specifications come around a 6.7-inch flexible OLED screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color, DCI-P3 color gamut, and global DC dimming panel. The display also has SGS eye protection certification and a top-centered punch-hole cutout that serves as a home for the front-facing shooter.
In terms of battery life, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra will pack a 4,610 mAh battery. It will also charge faster thanks to the 125 W charging system. It also has 50 wireless charging, and 10 W reverse charging tech.

Motorola Edge 30 Fusion

The Fusion variant joins the global market with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. This one is a rebranded Moto S30 – a cost-effective flagship phone. It packs a 6.55-inch OLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC. In terms of camera, the phone has a 50 MP shooter, 13 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP depth sensor.

And the RAZR 2022?

Apparently, Motorola is not bringing the new RAZR 2022 to global markets. Or at least, not in this particular September event. That said, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will have more than enough time to conquer this particular segment.
