Xiaomi Book Air

Xiaomi will unveil the highly-anticipated Redmi Note 12 series in China on October 27. In addition to the new phones, the company will also reveal a new compact laptop. The device carries Xiaomi Book Air 13 moniker and might be one of Xiaomi’s slimmest laptops to date. Ahead of the launch, the popular Chinese retailer JD.com listed the device with key specifications. It’s even possible to reserve a unit of the laptop.

Xiaomi Book Air 13.3-inch specifications

The Xiaomi Book Air will pack a 13.3-inch OLED touchscreen display. It’s a premium device, after all, it’s not every day that we see laptops with OLED panels. It supports a 2,880 x 1,800-pixel resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, like the Chinese brands like to say, it’s almost a 3K display. The panel supports a 60 Hz refresh rate and will come with a camera with an unknown resolution. We expect something with HD recording, after all, one of this device’s focuses probably is to allow high-quality video conferences.

Gizchina News of the week

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Book Air 13 will come in two configurations. It’s possible to pick a variant with 12th gen Intel U-series Core i5 or Core i7 CPU. In either case, it’s paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of Internal Storage.

As we’ve said, one of this device’s focuses probably is in the build. The Xiaomi Book Air 13 is listed with just 12mm of thickness and 1.2 kg of weight. We’re pretty sure Xiaomi will appeal to this in its marketing. In fact, the teaser posters are exploring this characteristic. The listing also confirms a full-size keyboard, probably with a num pad. However, it’s not clear if it is backlit. Other specifications include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. The laptop will also bring two Thunderbolt ports and a USB Type-C port.
