There have been plenty of
iPhone 4 clones on the market ever since
Apple launched the revolutionary iPhone, but none have been so precise, or so damn bold as the
GooApple G22!
The
GooApple iPhone 4 clone first appeared on our radar during
April of this year. At the time the amazing
iPhone 4 clone hadn’t been released yet, but the images and technical info which was released was enough to get our mouths watering.
Not only did the GooApple have a great spec (however that specification did change) but the GooApple really went for
Google’s and
Apple jugular, by blatantly ripping both companies logos off !
The original GooApple was known as the G22, and featured a vanilla
Android 2.2
OS, a front facing 1.3 mega pixel
camera, with a 5 mega-pixel rear unit plus a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen.
The G22 launched for 999 Yuan ($151) but would only run on 2G edge networks.
See the video below to see the G22 in action:
As with every
gadget the G22 went through has gone through an evolutionary process, and despite only being 3 months old is already on it’s 3rd incarnation!
The
second version of the G22 which was spotted out and about was actually the first official consumer model. The
specs stayed pretty much the same, although we were disappointed to learn the
CPU was clocked at only 420mHz, but that Froyo
OS had gone through a number of tweaks to make it look all the more
Apple like!
Take a look at the video below to see the second generation GooApple G22 in action, the
fake iBooks app is especially good!:
UPDATE: Read part 1 of our GooApple 3G Vs. iPhone 4 Showdown here. As we mentioned above the tweaking hasn’t stopped there, and there is now a
third generation GooAppple on the market, and is features some excellent features!
The CPU is an upgraded 600mhz Qualcomm unit, which still does fairly well playing the latest Android games despite the relatively slow speed. The GooApple can now handle 3G, and has had it’s named changed as such, GooApple 3G.
Strangely the front facing camera has been replaced with a fake unit.?! But to make up for the loss of camera the makers have crammed in an excellent Android 2.2 OS with full iOS makeover!
Just check out the video below, if you saw one in the street we bet you would have trouble telling the real from the fake!:
The latest 3G GooApple should be on sale later this month at an estimated 1500 Yuan ($232) which is a damn sight less than the real iPhone 4, which it mimics so well!
