A new PC dock that promises faster
speeds and a list of storage options has just been
released. This is the
Beelink Mate
SE mini PC dock.
Unlike other docks, it works with a wide range of devices, including Apple’s Mac mini, thanks to its
Thunderbolt 5 port.
This device has already been launched in China, and it is retailing for CNY 985, which is about $138, but there is no information on its global release.
A
Step Up in Connectivity
The Mate SE stands out for its 80
Gbps
USB-C port, which is based on Thunderbolt 5 technology.
This makes it
compatible with USB4 and Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connections found on many mini PCs.
The dock also features two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, another USB-C port for power
delivery, a 2.5G Ethernet port, and a high-speed SD 4.0 card reader.
Unlike some docks that rely heavily
on external power, the Mate SE can function without being plugged in.
However,
if the devices connected to it use more than 15 watts of power, a power adapter
is needed.
Beelink recommends using a 45W charger for this purpose.
Large
Storage Capacity
The Mate SE’s storage capacity is
huge, and it comes with two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0x2 slots, which can support up to
8TB of storage individually.
This means that a user has a total of 16TB at his/her
disposal, which is enough to store and back up very large files.
Compared to Beelink’s earlier Mate
dock, the new SE version offers an extra SD card reader.
This is a welcome
addition for photographers and content creators.
However, it drops the 3.5mm
audio jack that was present in the older model.
Unlike the previous model, there’s only one
version of the Mate SE, simplifying the buying decision for customers.
