The
Oppo N1 is notable for many reasons, not the least of all is its option to ship directly from the manufacturer with
CyanogenMod 10.1 preloaded onto it. The
device can alternatively ship with
Oppo's own take on Android,
ColorOS.
Both UIs have their advantages and disadvantages, but how does the
CyanogenMod OS compare to ColorOS in power consumption?
GSMarena put the
device through a variety of tests with both
Operating Systems and posted the results.
CyanogenMod did not fare well on the Oppo
N1 compared to ColorOS. When switching from ColorOS to CyanogenMod, users can expect a dramatic 33% loss in
battery length during talk time, (16 hours and 40 minutes to 25 hours and one minute) a 21% drop off while watching videos (10 hours to 11 hours and 15 minutes) and a 25% loss of
battery life in standby mode (59 hours compared to 79 hours).
The only
test that the
CyanogenMod performed comparable to ColorOS on the Oppo
N1 was web browsing. The Oppo
N1 only saw a 2% reduction of its
battery life while using
CyanogenMod and browsing the web.
It's not all bad however, The CyanogenMod community is very dedicated, and they will likely find it a point of pride to make the first phone to ship with CyanogenMod perform really well. You can bet they are working to get the most out of that 3,610mAh battery as I type this.
