HONOR Magic9 Pro Max Launches With Dual 200MP Cameras and ARRI Cinema Features

HONOR has officially launched the Magic9 Pro Max in China, and this is clearly not just another flagship phone. The new model is built around a professional camera workflow developed with ARRI, combining two 200MP cameras with dedicated imaging hardware and cinema-focused video tools.
The Magic9 Pro Max starts at RMB 6,499, which is roughly $910 before taxes and local pricing differences. It comes in Shadow Black, Glacier Silver and Moss Green.

Dual 200MP cameras with ARRI technology
The main camera uses a 200MP sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size, f/1.57 aperture, OIS and 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization.
It is joined by a second 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and OIS. A 50MP ultra-wide camera completes the rear setup. Both 200MP cameras offer CIPA 8.0 stabilization performance.
But the cameras are only part of the story.
HONOR has worked with ARRI to bring selected elements of its Image Science into the phone's imaging pipeline. The system supports the ARRI LogC3 Curve, 10-bit color, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks.
The phone includes 14 preset ARRI Looks, while the ARRI Look Library offers 87 predefined color gradings.
For me, this is the feature that makes the Magic9 Pro Max stand out. HONOR is not simply adding another high-resolution camera. It is trying to build a complete workflow for people who actually want to shoot and edit video on a phone.
4K 60fps cinema recording
In ARRI CINEMA Mode, the Magic9 Pro Max can record at up to 4K 60fps.
The phone also supports 10-bit color and ARRI's LogC3 workflow, giving creators more room for color grading during post-production.
HONOR has also added Cinematic LiveVideo, which captures a three-second moving moment after the user presses and holds the record button. It supports up to 4K resolution.
The phone also features a four-microphone directional recording system and stereo speakers. The dedicated cinema interface gives users control over settings such as shutter, ISO, white balance, focus, lens selection, stabilization and aspect ratio.
A massive 8,800mAh battery
HONOR has also gone big with the battery.
The Magic9 Pro Max packs an 8,800mAh silicon-carbon battery, with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The rated battery capacity is 8,600mAh, while 8,800mAh is the typical capacity.
That is important for a phone aimed at video creators. Recording 4K video and processing high-resolution footage can put a lot of pressure on both the processor and battery.
6.8-inch OLED with 10,000 nits
The display is a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED panel with an anti-reflective coating and HONOR's Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield.
HONOR claims peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, although this is a peak figure rather than sustained full-screen brightness. The phone also carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance.
Under the hood, the phone uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform.
HONOR has also redesigned the rear camera area around the look of classic ARRI cinema cameras. The company says the raised module helps reduce accidental finger obstruction while shooting.
MagicOS 11 brings more AI
The Magic9 Pro Max runs MagicOS 11 based on Android 17.
HONOR's new software adds YOYO Memory, Video Highlights and YOYO Tasks. The system can also transfer files between supported iOS, macOS, Android and Windows devices through HONOR Connect.
There are also optional accessories, including the HONOR Teleconverter G200, G500 and SmallRig Mobile Video Kit, which extend the phone's camera capabilities.
Price and availability
The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max starts at RMB 6,499, around $910, in China. It is available with 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB configurations.
HONOR says international availability across Europe, MEA and other markets will be announced soon.
On paper, this is one of the most camera-focused flagships HONOR has produced. The dual 200MP setup is impressive, but the ARRI partnership is what gives the Magic9 Pro Max a different identity.
Now I want to see how much of that cinema workflow actually translates into better footage in real-world shooting. That's where this phone will have to prove itself.
