Honor Magic 9 Pro Max Beats OnePlus 16 on AnTuTu With 5.52 Million Points

Honor is launching the Magic 9 series today in China, and the top-end Magic 9 Pro Max has already made a big statement. The phone has appeared on AnTuTu with a score of 5,524,187 points, beating the OnePlus 16 and its 5.38-million result.

That makes the Magic 9 Pro Max one of the fastest Android phones to appear on AnTuTu V12 so far. Of course, this is still a pre-launch benchmark, so I would not treat the result as a final measure of real-world performance.

The tested Magic 9 Pro Max uses 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs Android 17 and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

The chip has two Oryon Prime cores running at up to 5.07GHz, along with six more cores clocked at 4.03GHz and 3.74GHz.

The benchmark result breaks down into 1,452,764 CPU points, 2,081,549 GPU points, 736,389 memory points and 1,253,485 UX points.

The OnePlus 16 previously scored 5,384,433 points on AnTuTu V12 with the same 16GB+1TB configuration. That puts the Honor ahead by roughly 140,000 points. The difference is not huge, but it shows how close the newest Snapdragon-powered flagships are becoming.

For me, the more interesting part is not the small lead. It is the fact that we are now seeing Android phones pass the 5.5-million-point mark in synthetic testing.

The Magic 9 Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.8-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED display at 120Hz.

The camera setup could include a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide and 200MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. There is also a reported 55MP square selfie camera. Power should come from an 8,800mAh battery, with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

Honor is also expected to offer ARRI imaging technology, 3D face recognition and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The Magic 9 Pro Max clearly has the hardware to match that huge benchmark number. Now the real test begins when the phone reaches users.
