Coolpad are one of the largest manufacturers of
smartphones in
China, and are also one of the best selling, so it is now
surprise that they are currently working to
launch 4G LTE handsets.
China Mobile have been making noise about their
4G LTE network and it looks likely that they will
launch the faster data connection to
Chinese customers later this year. Currently there aren’t many
Chinese phones which support LTE, so
Coolpad are hoping to cash in on the niche by having the Coolpad 8920 ready in time for the
launch.
The
Coolpad 8920 is a 5-inch 720p
phone aimed at customers wanting a mid-range
phone with faster browsing and download speed
capabilities.
Unfortunately
China Mobile have pulled their old trick of developing their own brand of
4G LTE which they call TD-LTE, this is unlikely to be compatible with
LTE networks in other countries and we may have to wait to see what
China Unicom have planned for 4G before we can get excited about low-cost
LTE phone from
China.
