The
Oppo R819 has been turning heads since its release for its slim profile and extended battery life. What was missing was Oppo's heavily publicized Custom ROM for
Android, designed specifically for its line of phones. Last week Oppo fulfilled its promise and released
ColorOS for
download on their official
forums in its first
public beta, intended for use on the Oppo
R819 and Oppo Find 5.
As it is a
public beta, there have been some hiccups. Some users are complaining about insufficient system
storage space, with the new
OS taking up a large portion of the 1GB the
phone has dedicated to system
storage. Users have been able to work around the problem by moving some apps to
phone storage, but it is still a less than ideal situation.
Other than that one issue, the new OS seems to be working fairly well, with only a few reported issues. The Oppo R819 was previously running Android 4.2.1 (JellyBean) with a few modifications from Oppo. Interestingly, Oppo has enabled easy access to the R819's ROM, allowing users to replace the phone's operating system with a relatively simple process.
The most hyped feature of the ColorOS is its theme pages and custom gesture commands. If you have an
