Just days after our
Zopo C2 16GB arrived for
review we also received a
Zopo ZP980, which to our surprise also sports and
updated 1.5Ghz
MT6589T Turbo processor!
Chinese reseller site
Dinobulk have been kind enough to lend us a
Zopo ZP980 for review, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that this version of the ZP980 is a turbo model with the faster 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor!
Update: We checked with Dinobulk about the phone and they said they had no idea it was a Turbo phone and they believe the rest of their stock are regular 1.2Ghz models. Specifications are very similar to the Zopo Z2 including 1GB RAM, 5-inch 1080p display, 5 mega-pixel front camera and 13.1 mega-pixel rear and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. Although the
C2 and ZP980 offer almost identical hardware we have noticed some differences between our
review phones.
The major difference is that our
Zopo ZP980 doesn’t suffer from the same “ghost touches” as the
C2. Swiping from screen to screen is accurate and we have yet to accidentally open an app or register a double touch. Another difference is that the ZP980 scores less on
Antutu than the Zopo C2, but we believe this is due the phones running different ROM’s and we’ll test this again after updating.

ZP980 is the black phone on the left
Other than those details the ZP980 is the same
phone as the C2, both of which we are currently reviewing and thoroughly enjoying! As comparisons are bound to be made we are sticking by our guns when we say the Zopo feels better than the UMi X2, this is not only a build quality observation but also how comfortable the
phone is to use. The narrow body of the ZP980 and
C2 are both extremely easy to grip one-handed when taking
photos which is especially useful when trying to ‘capture the moment’.
Full
reviews of both phones are currently in progress!
P.S. With both phones in my hand I have to say I prefer the black.
