Redmi Expands Its Lineup: Buds 8 Pro and Pad 2 Pro Surface in New Filings

Redmi seems to be gearing up for a fresh wave of hardware. A well-known Chinese tipster has shared new details suggesting that Xiaomi’s sub-brand is getting ready to launch more than just its upcoming mid-range phone with 100W charging. Two new devices — the Redmi Buds 8 Pro and the Redmi Pad 2 Pro — have reportedly appeared in certification filings, hinting that an announcement is getting close.

According to Digital Chat Station, both products have already been registered, though the China version of the Pad 2 Pro still doesn’t have final specs listed. This isn’t the first time we see Xiaomi hold back details for its domestic lineup while the global model leaks early. It tends to fine-tune the China variant depending on component availability and internal strategy. Nothing unusual there.

The global Pad 2 Pro, however, is far less mysterious. It’s already visible on Xiaomi’s international site, revealing a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD, 120 Hz refresh rate, a sizeable 12,000 mAh battery, and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 at the helm. It also supports 5G + eSIM, something you don’t always find in mid-range tablets. The mix echoes what we’ve seen from Realme and Lenovo recently — the mid-tier tablet market is getting surprisingly competitive again, which is refreshing.

Details on the Redmi Buds 8 Pro remain light, but given Redmi’s past releases, it’s safe to expect stronger ANC, higher-resolution codecs, and maybe better microphones. Redmi usually pushes value-focused audio gear, so a “Pro” label suggests a step slightly above the Buds 5 Pro. If the pricing stays reasonable, these could be the brand’s answer to Huawei’s FreeBuds Lite series.

In a comment thread, the tipster joked that everything — the mid-range phone, the Buds 8 Pro, and the Pad 2 Pro — should arrive before the Spring Festival. This lines up with Xiaomi’s usual Q1 cycle. Certification is often the last stage before marketing begins, so the window checks out.

Outside China, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is already on shelves in some regions. It comes with eye-comfort display tuning, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, stylus and keyboard support, and even 27W reverse charging, which effectively turns the tablet into a huge power bank. Color options include dark gray, lavender, and silver. Prices start at HK$1699, roughly 1549 yuan.

Redmi looks set for a busy start to the year. Two new accessories and one high-battery phone could help it keep momentum in both China and global markets.
