Xiaomi has
just announced the Redmi Note 15 Pro and
Note 15 Pro+ in China. The Note series has always been about offering as much as possible for the price, and this year the focus is clear: durability, brighter displays, and a
massive battery that’s hard to ignore.
Both models ship with a 6.83-inch OLED panel running at 120Hz. Brightness goes all the way up to 3200 nits, which is way beyond what most phones in this range usually manage. The Pro keeps a flat screen while the Pro+ gets a curved design, giving it a bit more of a premium look.
Xiaomi is also using its own Dragon Crystal Glass for protection.
Two Different Chips
The Note 15 Pro+ is the first phone powered by Qualcomm’s new
Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. It’s paired with an Adreno 810 GPU and a redesigned cooling system that uses a circulating pump to spread heat more efficiently. The idea is to keep performance steady, even under gaming loads.
The Note 15 Pro instead runs on the Dimensity 7400-Ultra from MediaTek. It’s built on the same 4nm process, but tuned more for efficiency. Think smooth everyday performance rather than pushing the limits.
Cameras: A Split Approach
On the Pro,
Xiaomi is sticking to a familiar setup: a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro.
The Pro+ goes further. It also has a 50MP main, but this one uses the Light Fusion 800 sensor with OIS. It’s joined by an 8MP ultra-wide and, interestingly, a 50MP telephoto camera with 2.5x zoom. At this price point, a proper zoom lens is rare, and it could be a nice bonus for portrait shots or travel photography.
Built Tough
Xiaomi clearly wants these phones to stand out for durability. Both carry IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, which cover everything from dust resistance to high-pressure water jets. That’s not something you normally see on mid-range devices.
The body uses a fiberglass back for extra strength, and
Xiaomi claims the phones survived 50 drops from 2 meters onto granite during testing. Marketing hype aside, this is one of the toughest Redmi phones ever built.
Battery: The Big Story
Both models come with a huge 7000mAh battery. That’s significantly larger than what most flagships carry today.
Xiaomi says the Pro+ supports 90W wired charging, while the standard Pro caps at 45W. Both can also deliver 22.5W reverse charging if you want to power other gadgets.
For heavy users, this could be the deciding factor. A battery this big should easily push past a full day, maybe even two with moderate use.
Audio, Software, and Extras
Sound is handled by stereo speakers, and
Xiaomi is promising a big bump in loudness. Dolby Atmos support is there too. Both phones run Android 15 with HyperOS 2, and storage options go up to 512GB. RAM starts at 8GB and stretches to 16GB on the Pro+.
There’s also a Pro+ Satellite Edition with Beidou satellite messaging. That lets you send texts without network coverage, mainly aimed at people who spend time in remote areas.

First Take
With the Note 15 Pro series,
Xiaomi seems to be raising the bar for mid-range phones. Between the giant battery, serious waterproofing, and flagship-level displays, these devices could be tough to beat on value.
The
Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is still untested, and the Dimensity 7400 won’t excite power users, but for the price, both phones pack a lot. If
Xiaomi brings them outside China, they could shake up the mid-tier market in a big way.
