JiaYu G4 is currently the most anticipated quad-core MT6589 phone of any manufacture today (
check the poll here), and with it's great styling, high performance and low-
cost it's easy to see why. So what else do we know about the
JiaYu G4?
What processor will the JiaYu G4 have?
The JiaYu
G4 will be JiaYu's flagship MTK (Mediatek) phone for 2013, and as such it uses the top of the range quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor running at 1.2 Ghz! We know from leaked benchmarks from the
G4 and similar
phones that this chip, together with at least 1GB
RAM is capable of Antutu benchmarks close to 13,000!

How much RAM will the JiaYu G4 have?
The JiaYu G4 will come in two options. A entry-level "Youth" model which will cost 999 Yuan ($160) and a top of the range 'Premium' model which will cost slightly more. The cheaper 'Youth' model will have 1GB RAM while the top-of-the range 'Premium' G4 will have 2GB RAM.
What screen does the JiaYu G4 have? Unlike most manufacturers JiaYu have decided that the
G4 won't get a 5-inch full HD display, and have instead designed the
G4 with a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 panel. This
screen offers 720HD which for the size should look stunning and thanks to IPS technology, viewing angles will be superb. The
screen is of course a multi-touch unit, has a PPI (pixel per inch) of 312 and boasts OGS (One
Glass Solution) technology.
Will the JiaYu G4 screen be Gorilla Glass?
Yes, according to the
official documentation the JiaYu
G4 will have a Gorilla
Glass 2 display. Gorilla
Glass will offer additional protection from scratches knocks and scrapes.
What camera's does the JiaYu G4 have?
As the
G4 is a flagship phone, JiaYu have ditched older 8 mega-pixel technology in favour of a 13 mega-pixel (CMOS) main sensor. It has not been confirmed who will supply the
rear camera for the JiaYu
G4 but it is likely that Sony is the first choice, with back-up supply coming from other companies. The front camera on the JiaYu
G4 is a 2 mega-pixel unit.
What size battery will the JiaYu G4 have? The G4 will have 2 battery options. The 'Youth' model will come supplied with a 1800mAh battery, and 'Premium' model a larger 3000mAh battery. Due to the battery size the 'Premium' phone will measure 1.8mm thicker than the 'Youth' phone.
Can you upgrade the 'Youth' G4 to a 3000mAh battery?
This has not been confirmed, however it is likely that the batteries will be interchangeable. Due to the added thickness though the rear
case on the 'Youth' model will also have to be changed.
Does the JiaYu G4 have dual-sim support?
Yes, the JiaYu G4 will have support for dual-sim cards. In this case one standard size SIM and one micro SIM.
What networks does the JiaYu G4 support?
Pinning actual definite network support down is very tricky. As the JiaYu G4 is intended for the Chinese market, JiaYu haven't yet confirmed or denied which networks it will support. However, from what we know of the MT6589 chip, and specifications of similar phones we predict the G4 will support GSM (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) WCDMA (850/2100Mhz). Please note that this is not for certain and you should double-check once the phone is launched.
Will the JiaYu G4 work in my country?
Chances are the G4 will work in your country, but it might not work using 3G data connection. From previous experience those of you in the UK, Europe and India should find a solution to get the G4 to work on 3G. Those of you in the States and other countries will have to check what networks are available.

What version of Android will the G4 ship with?
Again, according to the official specifications the
G4 will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Don't be surprised if this is not the
case though, as manufacturers have been known to ship phones with 4.1 then
release an update shortly after.
How much internal memory will the JiaYu G4 have?
Both versions of the JiaYu G4 come with built-in memory (ROM). The 'Youth' phone will ship with 4GB ROM, the 'Premium' version will get 32GB ROM.
Can I use and SD card with the JiaYu G4? Yes, both versions for the JiaYu G4 will have a micro SD card slot located under the rear cover above the battery. Both phones will accept SD cards up to 64GB.
What is the JiaYu G4 made of?
The main chassis of the phone metal. All of the components attach to this metal frame with the plastic body fastened over the top. The rear case is removable to access the battery, SIM cards and SD card.
What size is the JiaYu G4.
The 'Youth' model with 1800mAh battery will measure 133 x 65 x 8.2mm. The 'Premium' G4 measures 133 x 65 x 10mm.
Will the G4 come in different colours?
Currently engineering models of the JiaYu G4 have been seen with a choice of either a white rear shell or black rear shell. It is also expected that aftermarket shells will be available in alternate colours.
What else does the JiaYu G4 offer?
The G4 has gyroscope sensors, built-in electronic compass, light sensors, proximity sensors, GPS, Bluetooth,FM radio receiver and Wi-Fi.
Can I buy the JiaYu G4 now?
At the time of writing this article you cannot buy the JiaYu G4. Many resellers are offering pre-sales for the phone, however no one has stock.
When will the JiaYu G4 launch? A launch date hasn't been announced, but we expect the JiaYu G4 to be available for pre-order later this month (March), with phones shipping in April.
How much will the JiaYu G4 cost?
If you are based in China and order the phone direct from JiaYu via their webstore the 'Youth' version of the JiaYu G4 will cost 999 Yuan ($160). Pricing for customers outside China buying through a reseller will be higher and you may also need to pay shipping. Pricing for the 'Premium' JiaYu G4 is yet to be confirmed!
