Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Announced In China, Starting At 16,999 Yuan ($2488)

Today, following the schedule, Samsung officially released the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G smartphone in China. This is Samsung’s second-generation folding screen smartphone. The internal and external screens are upgraded to 6.2/7.6 inches, the hinge design is improved, and it sports the Snapdragon 865+ platform. The starting price is 16,999 yuan ($2488).

The screen design of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is basically similar to that of the first generation. Also, the screen can be turned outward. The screen and structure have been greatly improved.

The external screen has been upgraded from the previous 4.6 inches to 6.2 inches. The full-view aperture screen design greatly improves usability. It can also be used as a complete large-screen smartphone when folded.

After unfolding, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will become a 7.6-inch phablet with an ultra-narrow bezel design. The screen surface has been increased by 13.5% compared to the previous generation. It also has a resolution of 2213x1689 pixels and supports an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate (60Hz in the folded state).

In terms of hinges, Samsung has learned from the previous lessons. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 uses an invisible hinge to precisely fit the fuselage. Its cam structure can realize multi-angle rotation stop technology and supports a new adaptive split-screen mode.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2costs 16,999 yuan. But there is a special Thom Browne cooperation Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G Limited Edition, priced at 27199 yuan ($3980). The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live earphones and Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 with Thom Browne classic color straps will officially go on sale on September 25.
