Samsung may be set to shake up phone cameras once again. A new rumour says the brand is now at work on a fresh 200MP sensor. This one is said to be named ISOCELL HPC. If true, it will be even bigger than the HPB sensor made for vivo’s X300 and X300 Pro.

Size may not sound like a big deal at first. But in phone cameras, it means a lot. The new ISOCELL HPC is tipped to be a 1/1.3-inch type sensor. That is a step up from the 1/1.4-inch type used in the HPB. A bigger sensor can take in more light. More light often means better shots, clearer night pics, and less noise in dark scenes.
Samsung has been a key name in high-resolution phone cameras for years. A move like this shows it is not done yet. The race for the best 200MP cam may just be set for a new round.

Built for Top End Phones

This new sensor is said to be high-end. It is not made for mid-range phones. It is built for flagship-tier devices. Rumour has it that Oppo may be one of the first to use it. The sensor could land in a future phone from the Find X10 series.
If that plan holds, the Find X10 may push photo and video to a new high. Oppo has long put a lot of focus on camera tech. With a new and larger 200MP part from Samsung, it may aim to lead the pack. For users, this could mean sharper pics, a more realistic tone in skin, and clearer zoom. It may also help with night mode and backlit shots.

New Colour Tech in Play

One key part of this sensor is UFCC, which stands for Ultra Fine Colour Filter. This tech was made by Samsung. The goal is to cut down sensor thickness while still letting in more light. It also aims to boost colour tone and keep them pure.
UFCC may help the ISOCELL HPC stay slim, which is key for thin phones. At the same time, it should raise light pass and keep shots rich and true.
The sensor is also said to have ultra-high dynamic range. That means it can show more detail in both bright and dark parts of a shot. The sky will not wash out as fast, and shade will not turn black.
Samsung may lead in camera tech if these rumours are true. The next wave of 200MP phones could be closer than we think.
