Last year Malata surprised the world by being the first
tablet manufacturer to launch a dual-core
tablet. The Zpad thoroughly impressed all those who set hands and eyes on it, and we really couldn't see how Malata would be able to improve such an amazing product.
Fast forward to today and we are again surprised by what Malata have managed to do!
Introducing the next generation Malata
Zpad T8.
Keep reading for full in depth details and photos.
Last years Zpad was an extremely powerful and well rounded devices, but for 2011 Malata have added a few
new nice addictions.
Nvidia are again supplying the chips that will run your apps and play your video, in this case a
Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core A9 CPU. That little beast of a processor will quiet happily hum away all day playing your games no matter how graphically intense they happen to be, as well as easily handle any video consumption including full 1080 HD video playback, you might want the 9.
7 inch screened
tablet to dish up. Actually that 9.
7 inch screen features the same IPS technology as the iPad meaning great viewing angles and beautiful crisp colours, as well as buttery smooth
touch operation.
The Zpad T8’s 9.7 inch high-resolution screen (1024 x 768) gets is back lit and gives super crisp viewing at up to 178°.
As well as the awesomely powerful
Nvidia Tegra 2 chip-set, Malata have also blessed the T8 Zpad with 2D and 3D graphic acceleration hardware giving the
new Zpad a significant performance boost over its predecessor.
Externally the T8 looks much better that last year T2 Zpad thanks to that great
screen and also the generous silver frame.
Operating and
navigation is also easier on the T8 thanks to the newly designed navigation/home buttons.
The new home button unit features a home and menu toggle wrapped around and internal back button. This design is not only unique, but also make the whole process of flicking between menus a much faster and simpler thumb only operation.
The back of the Zpad is covered in a great feeling rubber material which not only looks and feels great, but will also improve grip and likely protect the rear of the tablet from knocks and scrapes.
Also on the back is a removable hatch where you can place an SD card for memory and a 3G Sim card to ensure you’re connected to the web no matter where you are.
Malata have been plenty generous and have added a wealth of ports and plugs to the Zpad- Mini USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, Micro SD card slot, a standard USB 2.0, 30 pin data connecttor and of corse a power supple/charging plug.
There is also a light sensor for automatic screen brightness.
A front facing camera.
External speakers.
If you are looking at this boot
screen and thinking what I originally thought, don't get your hopes up. Despite booting up like the latest
Android 3.0 Honeycomb O.S the
Zpad T8 is actually packing Android 2.2.
The screen really is a great unit and features all the multi-touch gestures you would expect on a tablet such as pinch to zoom.
We have yet to have a full days play with the Zpad but we can tell you it’s a very impressive and fast device! Just take a look at the benchmarks below!
The T8 will go on sale soon at around $600.
We will have a full review in a few weeks.
