After selling a whopping 150,000 units of the fast-moving
Redmi 1S, Xiaomi will be bringing back the device in stock in
India coming Tuesday (14th Oct), with an inventory of 100,000 units of the smartphone.
Indians have responded in a very unexpected but good (for Xiaomi at least) fashion to the Redmi 1S. When we
tested the device earlier this year, we found it to be quite a deal for the US$130 it sold for back then; but Xiaomi's selling it for a mere US$99 in India, which makes it the lowest for any (official) market and a deal hard to resist.
There are talks of Xiaomi discontinuing the Redmi 1S, but we don't know for sure when that will happen. Whenever it does, Xiaomi's next big gun will be up for grabs in India -- the Redmi Note, for an expected 9,999 INR (US$163).
As usual, the Redmi 1S will be
available on Flipkart, but unlike last time you will have to
register first before being eligible for purchase.
