Xiaomi has laid out its update roadmap, and it’s not good news for owners of some popular models. Thirty-one
Xiaomi,
Redmi, and
POCO phones will not move on to
Android 16. Instead, these devices will receive
HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 15, as their final major upgrade. After that, support will be limited to security patches and minor fixes.
This isn’t unusual in the Android world. Most brands provide major updates for two to three years, with extended support reserved for newer flagships. Xiaomi’s decision follows the same pattern, shifting focus to improving HyperOS for the models that remain eligible.
POCO devices at the end of the line
The POCO lineup losing future Android updates includes some well-known mid-range performers:
For these phones, HyperOS 3 will be the last major software release.

The
Redmi series also sees a large number of models ending support with Android 15. That list covers budget devices, the Redmi K lineup, and even some Note series favorites:
- Redmi 12, 12 5G, 13C, 13C 5G, 13R
- Redmi K50 Ultra, Redmi K60
- Redmi Note 12 (4G, NFC 4G, 12R, 12S, 12T Pro, 12 Turbo)
- Redmi Note 13 (4G, 4G NFC, 5G, 13R Pro)
This
marks the end of updates for several phones that were popular in markets like India and Southeast Asia.
Xiaomi flagships reaching the update limit
Even high-end devices aren’t spared. Several Xiaomi 12 series phones—including the 12 Pro, 12S Ultra, and 12T Pro—will not get Android 16. The MIX Fold 2 and Civi 3 also finish their lifecycle here.

What HyperOS 3 brings
For these devices, the story doesn’t end with Android 15. HyperOS 3 is expected to ship with a fresh interface, borrowing from Apple’s so-called “liquid glass” look. Users can expect a revamped control center editor, extra customization options, and smoother system performance.
The rollout is set to begin in September 2025, and while it’s the last major update for these phones, it still gives them a more polished finish before updates officially stop.
