Sources at
Foxconn say that the
Xiaomi tablet has been in the testing stages for the past 8 months and it is finally ready for mass
production.
According to
news reports in Taiwan the Xiaomi tablet, or Zimi (purple rice) will be launched tomorrow and that mass
production of the 7.9-inch Android slate has been passed over to Foxconn.
Like the
Xiaomi Mi3, specification details are sketchy and two possible processors have been linked to the
device, a quad-core Mediatek
MT6589T SoC with built-in 3G and possibly even a Nvida
Tegra 4!
2 possible prices have also been suggest with the
MT6589T tablet rumoured to
cost 999 Yuan ($160) while a more powerful
Tegra 4 version would
cost slightly more at 1299 Yuan ($212).
