For weeks, the assumption was simple: Xiaomi would use its next global launch to introduce the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra outside China. That’s the predictable move. But now there’s fresh noise suggesting the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro are tagging along.
The leak comes from Sudhanshu Ambhore, who shared details about storage configurations and color options. Nothing overly dramatic. But specific enough to feel real.

What’s slightly amusing is that the Pad 8 lineup isn’t new. These tablets have already been floating around in China for months. Reviews are out. Benchmarks exist. So this global launch isn’t a reveal so much as a relocation.
Still, that matters.

Key Points:

  1. Xiaomi Pad 8 offers 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB; Pad 8 Pro comes in 8GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB
  2. Both tablets feature identical 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD displays with 144Hz refresh and 800 nits brightness
  3. Pad 8 uses Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with 45W charging; Pro model gets Snapdragon 8 Elite with 67W
  4. Shared 9,200mAh battery, HyperOS 3 on Android 16, and PC-grade WPS/CAD software support
  5. Wi-Fi 7 connectivity included but no cellular (5G/4G) support on either model

Storage, Colors — The Sensible Stuff

If the leak holds, the standard Xiaomi Pad 8 will land in two versions: 8GB of RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The Pad 8 Pro bumps that up to 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB.

It’s a conservative spread. No 6GB entry tier. No absurd 1TB flex. Just configurations that most people will probably find reasonable.
Color options are said to be blue, grey, and green. And yes, that sounds safe. Maybe even boring. But tablets aren’t fashion accessories in the same way phones can be. Most of them end up in cases anyway. I’ve lost track of how many “bold” finishes I never saw again after week one.

Same Display, Different Intent

Both models are expected to share an 11.2-inch LCD panel with a 3.2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The 144Hz part stands out. It’s higher than what many laptops offer. Is it necessary? Probably not for email and streaming. But once you’ve used a high refresh display for a while, it’s hard to go back.
Performance is where things split.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 reportedly runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The Pad 8 Pro moves to the Snapdragon 8 Elite — a much more serious chip. That suggests Xiaomi sees the Pro as more than just a bigger storage option. Charging speeds follow that logic: 45W on the base model, 67W on the Pro. Both pack a 9,200mAh battery.
Cameras get the usual tablet treatment. The standard version includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter. The Pro upgrades to 50 megapixels on the back and 32 megapixels on the front. Realistically, the front camera matters more. Tablets live on video calls now.
Connectivity reportedly includes Wi-Fi 7, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, NFC, quad speakers, and even an IR blaster — which feels almost nostalgic at this point.
One thing missing? Cellular connectivity. No 5G or 4G support, at least based on this leak.
Nothing here reinvents the tablet. But it does suggest Xiaomi is playing a long game — strengthening its ecosystem quietly, without trying to shock anyone.
