Pipo U1 7 inch tablet goes on sale for $112 runs Jelly Bean

I’ve been extremely impressed with what Pipo have had to offer this year with their great value 9.7 inch models and now I am just as excited with their new 7 inch Pipo U1 which offers similar specs but in a smaller, cheaper package!

Pipo have a winning formula when it comes to making Android tablets which goes a little like this.

First get a dual-core 1.6Ghz CPU along with a 4 core GPU to give great performance and gaming capabilities. Then pop in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and mix it all together in a great design with an a quality screen and voila!

Gizchina News of the week

That is the formula they used for the Pipo M1 which I reviewed a few months ago and this is the same formula they have used for their flagship 7 inch tablet the Pipo U1!

Like the larger M1 the Pipo U1 has a Rockchips RK066 1.6Ghz CPU, Android Jelly Bean and a great design but with a smaller 7 inch display with an impressive 1280 x 800 resolution!

Like the M1 the Pipo U1 comes in a choice of either white or black and features a front facing web camera!

The Pipo U1 can be bought on the Taobao Tmall here!

Does TaoBao ship to the USA? Just curious since all of their stuff is in Chinese. If they ship to the USA that’s great, i can use a translator if so. Please let me know.

Taobao is just like Ebay. Sellers can ship or not outside China.
The best way to buy in Taobao is with a intermediary. But when it’s electronic, I prefer buy in chinese online stores than per intermediary because it’s a little more secure (you have warranty and easy shipping) and you trust the product will be original and not a copy of a copy (or a copy of a Chinese brand).

By the way.. Andi, do you know the RAM/ROM of this tablet? Thanks

when you talk about Chinese online stores do you mean stores such as Pandawill which specialise on exporting or do you mean Chinese stores which sell mostly to Chinese (with much better prices?). can you give some examples? Tablets on Taobao often seem much cheaper than on Aliexpress.

Instead of making these “me too” product with almost identical specifications to kill each other, will it be more feasible for the Chinese manufacturers to build something like the Asus Padfone tablet. I don’t mean the full set but just the tablet part of the Padfone so as to compliment the handsets made by various big and small brands. In this case, all the enemies became partners. This will help users time for transferring data between devices. As mobile phones are selling tens of million per year, it will be a handsome business if this tablet compliment can capture 1/10 of it.
