JiaYu are up to their old tricks again leaking photos of their upcoming 4.7-inch MT6589 quad-core phone, the JiaYu G4, on their forums. The first batch of photos showed off the rear of the flagship phone, but this new spy shot gives us our first glimpse at the front of the G4.
From the photo (the only one which shows the front of the JiaYu G4 to date) we haven’t really learnt any more about the phone, other than it is going to get capacitive navigation buttons on the chin and not onscreen controls like many other next generation phones.
Gizchina News of the week
If rumours about the JiaYu G4’s specification are true then the 999 Yuan ($160) handset will feature Mediatek’s MT6589 quad-core CPU, an OGS 4.7-inch display, and will come with a choice of either a 3000mAh battery or 1800mAh battery.
While the photo above doesn’t hold any hardware or design secrets of the G4, the background might offer us some indication that JiaYu are planning to launch their newphone in new markets including China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and the United States! Or it could be just a random background…..
hey andi, any links to details on the mt6589, name gpu, memory bus, clocks, etc?
Andi, do you think we will have octa-core Android phones/tablets/android tv’s this year?
Also, out of curiosity, which clone phones do you have in your collection so far?
Phones for sure. As for clones I don’t have any now but I’ve had a Note knock-off, HDC SOne clone, Goophone V5 and Hero H2000 iPhone 5 clone. The HDC was the best.
I think we will see, but most likely not before fall. ARM has designed the A7 and A15 CPUs to work in tandem, A7 as a low power A15 as a heavy duty one. They recomend to use an even number so 2A7+2A15 and of course 4A7+4A15. The die is very small as they are designed to be build in a lower nm class so an octacore would not be bigger than current quad core ones (probably smaller). Current MTK CPUs (quad ones) just use 4 A7 but with higher clock speed as A7 is less performant than current A9 cores.I think they anounced however that they will release an octa core one (A7+A15) for high end phone also.Other manufacturers may release a quadcore A7+A15 combinations also.
