As for as news of the actual phone’s release is concerned well, we still have our fingers crossed for a mid May launch date.
Oh, man, I like it so much. I hope they will sell it before launching their G4 because I want to put it on another smartphone. Until they will launch the G4 my new and actual smartphone will become too old. π

Jiayu’s future updates are very poor. I managed to buy a Jiayu G3 in January and got a beta 4.1 update. Later read that they changed the chip in G3 and now coming to MTK6589, so there won’t be any updates for old Jiayu G3. Many Chinese company including Star released the 4.2, but no luck for G3. So I am thinking to get UMI x2 or Neo N003 based on review and no Jiayu, if they provide future updates

They are problably busy on the G4.
And the update might be a beta, it performs fine and stable.
There are already custom roms wich are even optimized better.
And other phone maker certainly isn’t.
There’s simply no excuse you can muster as a customer to justify this.
Don’t be wrong, I am talking about official rom not custom. Most of the custom rom I tried based on official, still having bugs with battery life. I strongly doubt they will come up with 4.2 update as G3 is using another chip.

A friend of my is having contact with people from JiaYu regarding a collective buying that we’re trying to setup for people in Belgium and the Netherlands. We were able to lower the MOQ but received the news that the 2GB/3000mAh version won’t be available until the second half of June.

how to join the group buy? what is the moq? Will they only put app that is applicable. Such as no baidu.
Waiting since chinese new year, the g2s is never available at official webshop. Finally got one from showroom shop, which charges anywhere from 100-200yuan extra. Plus all things extra, eg silicone case, ear plug…. the official webshop price is really another marketing gimmick like selling price from XXX. Actually paying price is YYY.
I bought based on info from forum like this. Seem like jiayu has quite a group of followers, but are they really so good to worth all this uncertain waiting? I was tempted to get the Cosmo based again on this forum but so little writing on this brand, plus no experience in using chinese smartphone yet, esp. in europe (except Wolfgang, which gets me started), I went for jiayu. Normally, I would not tolerate such treatment, 2 mos no supply from official webshop yet plenty supply from showroom.
Somehow, there seem to be a lot more write up on jiayu on this forum. Do not take me wrong, this is a great site, i love it, but somehow, impression wise, more info on jiayu than other brands.
What price where you guys able to negotiate? Any chance one could join that group? If so, i guess you’re only allowed to order one and the same type of model (e.g. only 2gb/3ooomAh)?

I hope they use better quality material this time and overall make more cases to choose from, because all the cases for G3 were totally garbage – both in materials and design.
I am sad at the wait for my G4 I preordered with Merimobiles as soon as they listed it… and I just want my phone. Compounded by the fact that my handset is on its last legs. Im not sure it will make it to May then June then July…

News from a mate who’s in Shenzhen: the Jiayu G4 and Umi X2 should be available in store on the 27th of April. But take the following in account: the 1st of May is International Workers’ Day and the production plants will close one day prior to it and one day after. I personally think the 6th of April would be a more realistic date… well let’s say the 7th since the 6th is a Monday…
