Xiaomi co-founder Liwan Jiang has taken to Sina Weibo to confirm that the Nvidia Tegra 4 version of the Xiaomi Mi3 will go on sale on October 15th!

The news comes as a relief to many Xiaomi fans as till now no firm release date had been offered by Xiaomi for their new flagship device. According to Jiang only the Tegra 4 version of the Mi3, i.e. the TD-SCDMA model for China Mobile 3G networks, will be available at launch.

Snapdragon 800 Xiaomi Mi3

Launch news of the Mi3 is great, however most fans (especially international hopefuls) are waiting for the WCDMA compatible Snapdragon 800 model, but this version has yet to go in to mass production! The reason for the delay is due to Xiaomi’s decision to skip the current 8974 SoC and for the for the updated 8974AB model with improved GPU performance.

Crap, was really looking forward to the S800 version. It seems the next 2 months we should see some great releases, so I’ll postpone my purchase till the end of November. Maybe I’ll get a new phone for christmas that way 🙂
