Snapdragon 600 JiaYu S1 goes international for $370!

The flagship JiaYu S1 has quitely launched outside of China and now available internationally at just $370!

It is no secret that we have a soft spot for JiaYu here at GizChina. The Chinese phone maker easily produces some of the best manufactured phones available, and their cost:specification raito has always been more than generous.

The JiaYu S1 is the current flagship phone from JiaYu, but unlike the rest of their range, the S1 is the first model to replace a Mediatek processor with a much more advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 unit! The S600 in the JiaYu S1 runs at 1.7Ghz (the same as the Oppo N1) plus there is 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory too!

Gizchina News of the week

jiayu s1

Jiayu don’t appear to have cut any corners on the S1 as the quality contniues to the 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display from Sharp, Corning Gorilla Glass, 13 mega-pixel Sony main camera, not to mention NFC, and wireless charging! This is the level of hardware we are use to seeing in phones which cost $600+ but the JiaYu S1 costs only $370!

With the JiaYu S2 on the way we don’t know for sure what JiaYu intend to do with the S1 line of phones, but if we were in the market for a new smartphone the JiaYu S1 would certainly be it!

Not attractive for international customers when nexus 5 with snapdragon 800 is available at $349.

    • January 20, 2014

Some of us prefer battery life than a S800 🙂

Actually, the only way to compare is to find the same phone with similar hardware and battery with S600 and S800 versions, Lets say the Optimus G pro and the LG G2, both have 3000mA batteries, 5″ 1080p screens, 3G ram, the only major change between both models is S600 vs S800, the S800 packing Lg G2 lasts for longer on a battery thats only 100mA bigger.

Not all international customers are lucky enough to get Nexus 5s at $349.

Stupid smartphone for a stupid price!
The mtk 6592 is better than the snapdragon 600, looking at the benchmarks…
He hasn’t very special features to, for $300+ a fail, with a snapdragon 800 it is good but a snapdragon 600, he hasn’t also a big accu.
    Let’s take the meizu/xiaomi/mtk 6592-device

Hi andy, your blog is very cool to obtain informations about chinese phones. But I Think I’m gonna stop to read it, because I m sick of seeing every day bigger phones, nowdays the minimum is 5″ (sometimes 4.7″ or 4.7, but that became rare). And for me it’s boring the see that manufacturers just choose a race for the bigger phone, when I’m sure other buyers like me want to have smaller phones with bigger batteries such as 4,3″ or even 3.8″ 4″ and further we know bigger screen uses more battery(that is not useful ).
I have a Xiaomi m2a 4,5″ and I find it even too big and painful sometimes to reach the top of the screen with my hand.
