Asus Zenfone 4 (A450CG) goes on pre-sale before Xiaomi Redmi 1S in India at 6,999 INR

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is all set to launch in India later today, but another maker now known for its affordable offerings seems to be after the Xiaomi thunder.

We’re talking about Asus, the Taiwanese maker that has been pretty darn aggressive with its Zenfone series of phones. The maker has put up the Zenfone 4 for pre-order on Flipkart for INR6,999, which happens to be the exact amount the Redmi 1S will sell for.

Gizchina News of the week

Specifications

  • 4.5-inch 854 x 480p display
  • 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB on-board ROM
  • 8 mega-pixel rear camera
  • VGA front camera
  • 1750mAh battery
  • Android v4.4 kitkat

Very honestly, those specs don’t really look like they can match the Xiaomi Redmi 1S. Asus did well with the Zenfone 5 that gave the Xiaomi Mi 3 a tough fight, but we really don’t think the Zenfone 4 has it to beat the Redmi 1S.

Either way, do let us know what you think on the Redmi 1S vs. Zenfone 4 battle!

Hi, I would like to have your opinion regarding the Redmi 1S. Is it a great phone for its price even if it has 1GB of RAM? Is 1GB enough or an inconvenient for a daily use?

This phone does not compete with with Redmi 1s but it will sell at its own pace and sell quite well. It competes more with the Moto E. Lots of people wont care for Xiaomi phones labeling them well Chinese phones, lots of people will try to buy but fail and get the Asus, lots of people will go for the Asus for its brand name and massive after sales support network. All this choice is great news for Indian consumers.

Always is good to know about new smartphones. Cheap options with good quality. Would it be a nice idea to bring it up to Europe soon.

All Asus Zenfone phones are shitty, shitty cameras and no battery life at all. 6 hours battery life per day. Who wanna buy a phone with 6 hours battery life per day? For 160 dollars there are much better options.

still cant understand why the zenfone 6 is constantly being ignored, I have one and so does the Mrs and its the best phone we both have ever had, big battery, big screen, the best camera on a mid range phone, all in all it a steal at its price. Can someone explain why the obviously inferior zenfone 4 and 5 are always in the spot light…
