JiaYu S4 renders turn up in 4 colours and Lollipop

jiayu s4 render

Hot on the heels of the real leaked photos of the JiaYu S3 are colourful renders of the JiaYu S4 smartphone.

The JiaYu S4 will be a smaller flagship phone from JiaYu powered by the same octacore Mediatek MT6752 64bit processor as the S3. The S4 is exciting for many phone fans as it will come with a 4.7-inch 720p display but won’t sacrifice specifications despite the small size.

Renders of the S4 have been posted on the JiaYu forums in China showing the device in a range of colours including red, black, green and white. The images also have more details specs of the phone which detail a 1.7mm bezel either side of the Gorilla Glass 3 display.

Gizchina News of the week

Other features include 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, 8 mega-pixel front Sony sensor, and rear 13 mega-pixel Sony IMX220 sensor. The body is all alloy and measures in at 130 x 64 x 8.3mm which has just enough room inside for a single SIM (LTE), Yamaha audio chip, 64GB SD card, and 2500mAh battery.

If all that wasn’t enough then Android 5.0 Lollipop has been thrown in there too!

It all looks awesome to us, let’s hope there is more than just an ounce of truth to the specs and renders.

If these expectations were to be true, I’d drop my aspirations to purchase a 4G/LTE version of the Mi4 and buy this one instead.

But… let’s wait and see the real deal first.

The upper and lower bezels are a bit too big and they should shrink the size of the capacitive buttons icons, they make the entire think look chunky.

“which has just enough room inside for a single SIM” – Isn’t it dual sim? The picture says one standard one micro sim. If not then dreams don’t come true.

YES, YES, YES! Finding good 4,7 inchers (or 5″ in 4,7″ proportions) is so hard right now. Everyone’s making stupid phablets.

    Source?

This is the same photoshop job (albeit a decent one) that was posted in the comments for the last story about the phone on this very site.

FFS. A bit of effort in terms of research/referencing wouldn’t go amiss.

It does look like part 2 of the first photoshop job last week. At least the photo’s of the S3 in the other blog item look genuine. I wish that we had similar genuine photo’s / specs of the S4, personally I would like it to be a 5 inch phone and not 4.7 inch.

There are plenty 5 inchers to go around. 4.7? Not so, in fact there are about 2-3 models at that size that are decent. Apart from this 4.7 seems to be the limit for one hand use, to some of us that’s an essential function of a phone, as we have our tablets for two handed use. Hope jiayu will take pointers from that faked photo/screen shot, and create a phone close/at those dimensions…

Hehe, yeah in that I agree. Jiayu is notoriously bad in keeping a timetable, but at least they deliver what they promised. Many Chinese companies can’t do even that…

Awesome. Finally a normal size phone with half decent specs. 720p is fine by me too. When’s it out?

Hi there, does someone know when this phone will be on sale? If the release date is next year, I will go for the Redmi 1S. Can’t wait anymore for the right phone…

Incredible… only 900/1800 and 2100 wcdma… WTF? Seems jiayu dont care about making an international version,… i really dont understand…

      Agreed.

I really like Jiayu; I’m still using their “truly international” G4 (850/900/1800/1900) which is great because I need both 900 and 1900 (since I travel between New Zealand and the USA). It’s also great because it’s got a 3500 mah battery and a 4.7″ screen size that fits easily in my pocket. And a 64GB memory card slot.

I’d love to upgrade to a Jiayu Octacore phone, but I’m still waiting for them to release one with the same non-negotiable specs mentioned above. Although I might be willing to concede a smaller battery capacity, the other specs above are absolutely non-negotiable for me.

I don’t plan on buying another Jiayu phone unless they bring back a truly international one that will work in the countries I travel to.

If this ends up below 200USD , it might be the best phone in it’s class.

IMX220 is not a 13MP sensor, and I doubt Sony is going to make a custom sensor for Jiayu.

If it was a setting to the CPU’s 16MP limitation?
Sony Z1c for example is limited to 8MP on automatic mode 🙂

Yes but Sony’s limitations has nothing to do with processing capabilities but with quality and file size. I guess Sony is processing 20.7mp to create an 8mp image, but the mt6752 can’t process 20.7mp, regardless of the final image size.
