Only 2 days until Elephone, P9000, M3, W2 and a mystery product

elephone launch 2016

For the first time in their history, Elephone are holding a launch even in China for 4 new products. 3 of them we know, the other is a mystery new product.

On the 15th January, Elephone will be holding an event in Shenzhen, China. At the event the mobile maker has already confirmed that they will unveil the Elephone P9000, Elephone M3, Elephone W2 wearable and a new mystery product.

Elephone have been teasing 4 products would launch at the show, but we assumed that they were counting the Elephone P9000 and P9000 Lite were counted as seperate products but this isn’t the case.

Some ideas of what the 4th product could be include the newly announced Elephone Explorer Pro 4K action camera, a hand-held gyro stabilizer, or maybe even another wearable. While the this product is a mystery we do know quite a lot about the other launches already.

Elephone P9000 and P9000 Lite

These two phones will have a Mediatek Helio P10 chipset, 4GB RAM, and run Android 6 (we’re not sure our of the box or in a coming update). Elephone have been running a crowd funding event for the P9000 where backers could earn a $50 saving by supporting the phone with a $5 deposit.

Really no doubt that elephone can make some nice phones with decent hardware. But it’s so sad that their software and customer support is bad. Making a phone is not enough, you need to have proper support for your phones and good customer service. If they don’t make too many phones and try to follow proper OEM company like one plus, meizu and oppo and then properly support the phone hardwire they will gain more trust from consumers alike. But then again they are a second tire cheap company with limited budget and big ambition. They can only do so much with limited amount of money.

I didn’t really feel the P8000 or M2 were that bad tbh. But everything else is a completely different story.

P8000 is one of the very few budget phones with active development. In my book that’s the opposite of “bad”. Its 4000 MaH battery and 3GB of RAM help too.

Screen leave some things to be desired (I’m getting white spots after 5 months of use), signal is not the best (no 5GHz, seriously Elephone?) and the camera is atrocious. But it’s a sub $150 phone so you don’t expect much to begin with and remains one of the best phones of this category.

Elephone is not a premium brand, but they can compete on the budget end of things if they’re serious about it. For example Vowney is nothing great mostly because of its pricing (it would do great if it was priced differently though).
