BLU Pure XR looks like a rebranded Gionee S8

American phone brand BLU with bee launching a new model later this year with a $299 price tag and 4GB RAM.

BLU have been offering well priced handsets to the U.S market for years now, and vernally what we see are GIONEEE devices made with BLU’s own branding, but at lower pricing than GIONEE themselves offer.

Gizchina News of the week

Coming later this year is the BLU Pure XR, a smartphone that will offer 4GB RAM and a physical home button at a price of $299. Judging by the design of the phone and the look of that home button we assume that the XR is going to be another rebranded Gionee devices.

With this in mind the Pure XR could be a rebranded Gionee S8 which would mean th phone could come with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, Mediatek Helio P10 chipset, 64GB internal memory, 16 mega-pixel rear camera, 8 mega-pixel front and 3000mAh battery.

BLU are set to announce the XR on the 29th August.

Previous Cool1 will come in 3 colours on sale form the 24th August
Next Here are the Meizu Pro 7 renders with curved display

I like Blu/Gionee but very tough to buy this one when for $100 more I can get a OP3, Axon 7, Idol 4S or Honor 8.

AMOLED ups the game but now the Redmi Pro is out with X20/25, I can’t say it is competitive at $300.

It’s more fair to compare this phone to other phones available in the US market though since it’s targeted towards to US market. The Redmi Pro is really nice but people outside of China will have to pay more to import it from resellers and it will have no LTE in the US.

Redmi Pro isn’t available in the US, it would cost around $270 to import it and even then you wouldn’t have LTE coverage. Looking at other competitors that are sold in the US we have:

          Sony Xperia XA – $249 (Helio P10)
Sony Xperia XA Ultra – $329 (Helio P10)
          Moto G Plus – $249 (SD617)
          Moto X Pure – $349 (SD808)
          Nexus 5X – $299 (SD808)

Those are all prices from Best Buy. Personally I think they are selling it for $50 too much. But it is competitive with other phones offered. Especially when you compare it to the two Sony phones which both come with the same SoC but both of those have less RAM and smaller batteries.

If it was $249 I would buy one in a heartbeat.
